About The Foraging Hound

The Foraging Hound was created from a love of natural pet wellness, better ingredients, and the small businesses working hard to create products pet parents can feel good about.

After years of helping pet parents navigate food, treats, supplements, and everyday wellness products at an independent pet store, I saw how overwhelming it can be to know where to start—especially when you don’t have access to a knowledgeable local retailer. I wanted to create something that brought thoughtfully selected products, education, and personal support directly to pet parents.

Meet Jess

Hi, I’m Jess—the pet parent and lifelong learner behind The Foraging Hound.

I currently hold a certificate in pet nutrition & have more than six years of personal experience feeding a fresh, raw diet to my own pets. I’m also beginning my journey into canine herbalism and am currently enrolled in the Ethos School of Canine Herbalism. As additional course levels become available, I plan to continue through each one and deepen my understanding of herbs, energetics, and natural wellness for dogs.

My goal is not to claim that learning ever truly ends. Pet wellness is constantly evolving, & I’m committed to continuing my education, asking questions, and sharing what I learn in a way that feels approachable and useful.

The Pets Behind The Box

The Pets Behind The Box •

Vision

Cane Corso

I grew up surrounded by mastiffs and large-breed dogs, but Vision is the first mastiff who is completely my own. As my Cane Corso and constant companion, he has inspired me to advocate for XL breeds and ensure they have a space in the pet wellness world.

From appropriately sized chews and enrichment to quality nutrition and everyday wellness support, Vision is the reason The Foraging Hound is committed to creating options that truly include—and celebrate—the big dogs, too.

Ginger

Golden Retriever, Australian Shepherd Mix

Ginger is my senior rescue, seasoned taste tester, and one of the hearts behind The Foraging Hound. Her golden years have inspired me to think more intentionally about everyday wellness, gentle herbal support, quality nutrition, & helping pets feel their best through every stage of life.

When she isn’t carefully inspecting the latest treats, Ginger can usually be found soaking up the sunshine, claiming the coziest spot in the house, or reminding us that senior pets still deserve plenty of adventure, enrichment, and joy.

Monet

Dilute Calico

Monet was my first cat. I adopted her when she was less than 2 lbs & raised her on a completely on a raw diet - as that is the most biologically appropriate for all felines.

Monet has taught me to truly see cats for what they are - obligate carnivores. She relishes in hunting, gnawing, thrashing, and tearing up her food & chews!

Her favorite snacks are anything bison, rabbit ears, & whole fish!

Friskers

Orange Tabby

Friskers, a former store cat, came to our little pack after causing some ruckus in typical orange tabby fashion.

I often tell people that I am spoiled by him because he is the least pickiest cat I’ve ever met!

He is my best little buddy & loves a good conversation.

His favorite snacks are rabbit ears, whole fish, & veggies (surprisingly).
